A Teacher Control Model of a Blended Learning Environment based on a Typical Classroom in Secondary School

Since numerous studies report positive results from blended learning,this study aims to adopt blended learning to facilitate and extend classroom interactions between teachers and students. While finding a great deal of fuzziness in the blended learning literature review,we focus on a compromise between the conventional face-to-face sessions and online learning,leading us toward a new approach of teaching and learning by delivering lecture-based content recorded with a lesson plan. In practice,we provide an environment to easily record lecture-based content. Our solution is to keep the traditional function of the lecture-based classroom equipped with an Epodium packaged with a PC with recording software,a projector and cameras which let teachers record the lesson content by simply turning on one switch. After producing recording of the lecture-based content,we use SCORM to package the recording,with index-oriented material based on the PowerPoint slides. We deliver the indexoriented material to a Learning Management System (LMS) to break the limits of the face-to-face learning environment,and benefitting our students. Furthermore,we share education material under WEB2.0 by using a peer-to-peer applicationlevel streaming service and a private cloud which makes copies and decides on placement of materials on the Internet. The cloud also takes the place of the SCORM zip files,guaranteeing that all of the content will be available even though servers are removed,disks crash,and networks are broken. Our mission is to make teaching and learning more efficient and enjoyable while adding very little work for teachers and network administrators.
