This article discusses the design of a proof of concept (POC) system for preliminary control of a prosthetic hand based on EMG signal processing. Included is the description of signal processing steps, an overview of the constructed prosthetic hand prototype and preliminary interfacing thereof with the control interface. Further development will include prerecorded EMG signal processing and classification of various hand movements using neural networks, with the ultimate aim of designing a system capable of real-time signal classification in order to control the prosthetic hand when worn by a person.
