Direct calibration in active phased array antenna varies with respect to the phase and amplitude of each element in the array system. It considers the power amplifier output for each antenna element. There are various challenges experienced which complicate the calibration algorithm such as, large numbers of elements, mutual coupling of radio frequency paths, temperature and driving power of power amplifiers. This paper focus on a robust and consistent algorithm developed using octagonal phase settings for multiple kth elements for faster direct calibration of an active phased array system with (MxN) elements. This efficient octagonal phase setting calibration algorithm is applicable for phased array antennas, array of communication satellites and radar systems.
