In this paper, multiple one-dimensional (M1-D) finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method for asymmetric coupled transmission lines is presented. Based on the developed M1-D FDTD method for symmetric coupled transmission lines using even- and odd-mode approach, the corresponding effective permittivities and permeabilities for asymmetric coupled transmission lines can be estimated. The update equations involving the self and mutual effective permittivities and permeabilities are given in detail. Asymmetric coupled transmission lines are simulated by the M1-D FDTD method. The proposed method is validated by comparing with the results using Advanced Design System (ADS).
