The work develops an extended multiple measurement vectors FOCUSS (M-FOCUSS) method for the synthesis of sparse array patterns with nonuniformly spaced linear arrays in wideband frequency. In the method, the synthesis result can obtain multiple pattern data of different frequencies having the best common element positions by virtue of the Multiple-Sensing-Matrices (MSM) scenario. Numerical examples show the high accuracy of achieving the desired radiation pattern in wideband frequency with maximally sparse non-uniform linear array.
