Jute, hemp, ramie, flax, sisal fibers can be named so-called natural high performance fibers because of their high tensile strength. These natural fibers are of low cost, the largest reproducible resource, and environmental-friendly behaviors. In recent years, the study about high performance natural fiber reinforced polymer composite materials attracts much attention. In the present paper, the fundamental performance of jute fibers, the processing and mechanical properties of twisting jute fibers and jute fiber cloth reinforced polymer matrix composite materials are studied.
