The stress intensity factor was evaluated for the Mode I of fracture in cracked anisotropic media. The displacement extrapolation technique was used. This technique is based on the nodal displacement around the crack tip. The crack tip was modeled with isoparametric quarter point elements. Different values of material properties, geometry configurations and length of the quarter point elements were tested to verify the applicability of the developed routines. The precision of the methodology is discussed and analyzed. It was implemented in a commercial finite element code (ANSYS~(~R)), in order to create an user-friendly environment to the analysis within broad of fracture mechanics.
