In this work, we have studied the effect of SO2 and H2O on the performance of vanadium and manganese-based catalystssupported on carbon-ceramic monoliths. Vanadium-based catalysts are more resistant to SO2 poisoning than manganesebasedcatalysts. Inhibition by water steam is reversible for both types of catalysts. The vanadium-based catalysts weresubmitted to the outlet stream of a coal-fired power plant, showing a fast deactivation down to a constant final activity.Deactivation seems to be produced by arsenic poisoning and formation of superficial sulphates.
