The rationality of electric energy metering is currently the focus of the energy metering field. Theoretical and simulation analysis are carried out from the perspective of rationality of metering methods. The harmonic power flow direction in the multiple harmonic sources system is analyzed, and the measurement error between full wave metering mode and fundamental wave metering mode is calculated quantitatively, which shows that the current electric energy metering mode is not reasonable when metering the harmonic power. On the basis of the definition of load nonlinearity, a new electric energy metering scheme considering loads nonlinearity factor is proposed. Whether the load is linear or nonlinear is distinguished first, and then different measurement schemes are adopted for different types of loads. The rationality and effectiveness of the proposed new electric energy metering scheme is verified in an actual engineering case.
