A quantitative study of the weakening of emotional words' emotional intensity in “x-yixia” construction in the perspective of construction coercion

“V-yixia” construction is one of those common expressions used by people in language life. The construction is characterized by 'small scale' features of linguistic semantic. In recent years, the choice of words of 'V-yixia' construction has become more general. 'V-yixia' construction has changed to “X-yixia” construction. Emotional words, as an important part of the vocabulary, also frequently appear in the construction. We found that the weakening of emotional words' emotional intensity is significant in the “X-yixia” construction because of the influence of influenced the coercion of construction. This paper starts from the view of quantitative analysis, analyzes the weakening effect of emotional words caused by the coercion of construction through the corpus data.
