Hybrid Permanent Magnet Axial Field Flux-Switching Memory Machine (HPM-AFFSMM) exhibits the large torque output in the low speed region and wide speed range in the high speed region by applying a flux regulation pulse to tune effectively the magnetization state of low coercive force PM. Thus, effective flux regulation pulse decides whether the HPM-AFFSMM can efficiently operate or not. The quantitative flux regulation pulse, satisfying the requirement of bidirectional and quantitative pulse, is proposed. On the basis of analyzing the circuit topology and the bidirectional and quantitative flux regulation principle of the quantitative flux regulation pulse, the flux regulation characteristic of the machine are conducted by simulation and experiment. The results show that the method proposed is effective.
