Comparison of the Fault Current Limiting Effect of HTS DC Cable with Current Limiting Function in HVDC Power Transmission System

The HTS DC cable transmission power has the characteristics of high efficiency and environmental friendly, so it has also become a high-profile replacement of the traditional transmission cable. Many researches focus on the impact of the application of HTS DC cable on the power grid, especially on the protection system of the power grid. In this paper, the fault current limiting capability of HTS DC cable in LCC HVDC and VSC HVDC systems is compared and analyzed.
