摘要

A new type of left-handed metamaterial is proposed with low loss, wide band and small size, based on “I” shaped structure, it also can be used for X and Ku bands. Left-handed unit arranged in periodic structures, placed on one side of substrate. Metamaterials can be equivalent to left-handed transmission line circuit. Effective electromagnetic parameters given by the high frequency simulation software HFSS and S-parameter retrieval method shows that the double negative band range from 8.58GHz to 13.55GHz. Its absolute bandwidth reaches 4.97GHz with relative bandwidth of 44.92% and the electrical length less than 0.05, with its biggest loss low to 0.27dB per unit. This new structure lay foundation for widely use of lefthanded metamaterials.
