The Challenge of Global Supply Chain: Cross-Cultural Issues in Using an Expert System Model (QuickView) to Evaluate International Small Manufacturers

This paper outlines the application of QuickView, an expert system-based assessment tool, on small to medium-sized manufacturers outside of the United States. This study is aimed at the global supply chain development problems. Dalian, China, is one of the sites chosen with the cooperation of the local government. The focus of this paper is on the cultural issues encountered in Dalian during the training and application of the model. Additionally, this paper will discuss some of the characteristics of the Chinese environment that are important in order for the western models to be adopted in China.
