Survivability is the ability of systems to minimize the impact of finite-durationrndisturbances on value delivery. Previous work developed and tested a set of seventeenrnsurvivability design principles spanning susceptibility reduction, vulnerability reduction, andrnresilience enhancement strategies. In this paper, a process is described for applying thernsurvivability design principles to the concept generation phase of Multi-Attribute TradespacernExploration, a system analysis methodology integrating decision theory with model-basedrndesign. Applying the design principles serves both to augment the creativity of system designersrnby ensuring consideration of a broad tradespace of design alternatives and to quickly screen arnlarge number of candidate design variables before proceeding to concept evaluation.
