A packet switched time-division duplex direct-sequencenspread-spectrum (DS-SS) communication system is proposed for operationnin mobile and wireless indoor CDMA communications with Rayleigh fadingncharacteristics. A power control method is then proposed for this systemncapable of providing effective estimates of the fading state of thenchannel and using this information to adaptively control the uplinkntransmission power for equalized received power at the base station. Thenperformance of this power control scheme is evaluated by examining thendistribution of the received power compared to a reference level forntypical indoor communication system parameters
