摘要

A polygon approximation based approach is proposed to improve the query efficiency in querying spatial data in digital achieving system. Although the query efficiency can be increased if the number of sides of n-sided polygon decreases, the search precision can be reduced accordingly. Thus, in the proposed approach, the query efficiency and search precision can be well controlled according to the requirements of different applications. The experimental results show that the proposed polygon approximation based approach can improve query efficiency if users do not demand very high search precision.
