Load frequency control is an important means to make interconnected power grid frequency and tie line power operate safely and steadily according to planned values. However, the research object of load frequency control is not only the traditional water and fire power system, but the new interconnected power system which is jointly involved by wind power and water and fire power units because Large-scale wind power is integrated into the power grid. The traditional load frequency control uses PI control, but for the volatility and randomness of the wind power, the effect of PI control on inhibition of disturbance is not obvious, easy to cause the frequency range and tie line power is limited. Therefore, this paper applies the two order active disturbance rejection control to the interconnected power grid with wind power, and analyses the advantages of PI control compared with disturbance rejection control when two conditions of fixed wind speed and wind speed fluctuation. It is concluded that active disturbance rejection control can quickly track the area control error of the system, and greatly reduce the effects of load disturbance and wind power fluctuation on the power grid frequency.
