In collaboration with multinational partners, the Libraries of thenUniversity of California, San Diego have begun development of a digitalnPacific Rim Library in support of education and research inninternational studies. The paper discusses this virtual library thatndelivers collections and services in digital format over the Internet.nThe intent is to develop a fully functional library but with thenimportant distinction that it will not reside in a building and therenwill be no books on shelves
