Nowadays, enacted environmental acts limit the content of sulfur in petrol feedstock. In recent years, Ni2P has shown excellent activity for hydrodusulufrizaiton(HDS). The HDS activities over the nickel phosphides vary substantially depending on a second metal is incorporated into the phosphide phase or added as a promoter. The conventional pellets catalysts have high pressure drops and high gradient of temperature. The monolithic structured catalysts, for example, the cordierite as the support can have distinct advantages in lower pressure drops.
