摘要

The authors present a neuronal network of the visual cortexreferred to as the Segmentron. It is based primarily onneuromorphological and neurophysiological data obtained in animalexperiments. The response profiles of the neuron-like elements in themodel are shown to be very similar to the profiles of the real neuronsin the visual cortex. Moreover, by the running of the model, propertiesof the neurons in the visual cortex that were not initially present arerevealed. In particular, it is shown that the neuronal network includesthe capability of texture discrimination. This and some other featuresof the network make it very attractive for various applications in thefield of technical vision for industrial/commercial use
