Steel for the High Speed Railways Bridges in France Conceptual Design, Materials, Fabrication and Construction Methods

Steel has gradually made a come-back in the deck structure of medium span bridges in France. This trend started in the road bridges first and has now reached the maximum share in the bridges for the new high-speed railway lines. This was possible thanks to the effort of the steel fabricators, the bridge designers and constructors. The TGV Mediterranean line spectacular steel bridges, described here illustrate the technical know-how of French steel bridge industry.
