We address the problem of estimating the average switching activity i ncombinational digital CMOS circuits under random input sequences. We have used a probabilistic approach and have given a distributed implementation using PVM. We make use of the Parker-McCluskey heuristicand use bit-vector representation of signal probability Expressions to arrive at an efficient implementation. Experimental results on ISCAS'89 cirucits show that reliable results can be obtained in considerable less time than required by echaustive simulation.
