摘要

We are developing an environment for simulation, visualization and analysis of Earth System processes and phenomena. This environment will be used to better understand the interactions between components of the Earth System and to eventually predict their variations. Here, we examine in detail one of the science challenges that can be addressed with such an Earth System Mode: the extratropical impact on the atmosphere of ocean temperature variations associated with an El Nino event in the tropics.
