When used as general purpose systems, current multi-computer designs based on the k_ary d_cube topology have two main shortcomings. On the one hand, they couple processing and communication capacities. Additionally, when the dimension is kept fixed, the network bisection bandwidth decreases as the number of processing nodes grows.
