HARMONIC MANIPULATION FOR HIGH EFFICIENCY Low INTERMODULATION MICROWAVE PA'S

Conditions for maximum efficiency operation in microwave power amplifiers are derived moving from basic power balance considerations. Harmonic tuning for high efficiency design is reviewed, discussing its practical implementation and limits. The measured result of sample design and realisations making use of different harmonic manipulation techniques are presented. Finally, the impact of harmonic tuning for high efficiency on the stage linearity is discussed together with measured results.
