Yellow River digital flood forecasting system in the reach between Xiaolangdi and Huayuankou (Xiao-Hua reach for short) is the first and key project in the ‘Digital Yellow River Project’, which is fully utilized modern technologies and means such as telemetry, remote sensing, GIS, satellite, radar and so on, based on automatic collecting and transmitting of hydrological and meteorological monitoring information, supported by digital valley (Xiao-Hua reach) platform and advanced consulting environment, focused in rainfall-flood-runoff and forecast-regulation integrated models, and then to establish advanced visual and digital flood forecasting system. The construction and application of the system would realize automatic, digital, modern and intellectualized hydrological data collecting, transmitting, receiving, processing and saving, water and weather information consulting, flood early-warning and forecasting, hydrological information releasing, etc. It would be very beneficial for Yellow River hydrology to improve flood forecasting technologies and level greatly, and its technologies and layout understandings would provide case study in flood forecasting field for other river basin
