This paper presents a new system concept of local augmentation of satellite navigation: the Landing Radar (LaRa) [Ref. 1, 3 and 4], After introducing navigation requirements for the approach and landing phases of flight, the integration of satellite navigation with LaRa is presented with the models used to perform qualitative and quantitative assessments of the overall integrated system. The results of these assessments have shown that integrating satellite navigation guidance with LaRa yields a significant reduction of incident and missed approach probabilities with respect to stand-alone satellite guidance (no LaRa integration).
