Carabidae monitoring of two locations in Indre et Loire, France was carried out in 2008 to investigatethe ecological impact of the introduction of perennial grass. The original state: natural grassland and a barley fieldwere used to identify changes. Sampling was performed using pitfall traps. We investigated proportion of pioneerindividuals species, species richness, equitability, Sorensen index and remarkable species. The equitability shows thatthe new environment created from the barley field is going to reach a new balance. This will probably take a longerfrom the drier natural grassland. The new environment with no pesticides is favorable to Morphocarabus m. andAutocarabus a. Disaffection of Harpalus s. confirms modification of the ecosystem with more shade and wetconditions. There was no unknown species or particular density of pest. Balance environment avoid pest anddiseases. To preserve Miscanthus and Switchgrass from pest we suggest dividing Miscanthus or Switchgrass plot byannual crops or grassland strips. The strips could conciliate biodiversity and productivity by providing: cut fire,landscape integration, way to gather bales of Miscanthus or Switchgrass straw, hunting area if necessary.
