To meet the increasing need for bioenergy three lignocellulosic materials: raw hay (H), pretreatedwheat straw (WS) and pretreated household waste (HHW) were considered for the production of bioethanol andbiogas. Several mixtures of household waste supplemented with different fractions of wheat straw and hay infermentation process with Saccharomyces cerevisiae were investigated. Wheat straw and household wastes werepretreated using IBUS technology, patented by Dong Energy, which includes milling, steam explosion treatment andenzymatic hydrolysis. Methane production was investigated in two separate experiment. In the first effluents frombioethanol generation (fermented household wastes, wheat straw and hay) were used. Afterwards, trial of methaneproduction from thermally and enzymatically pretreated household waste was carried out.
