Waste management improvement has been one of the urgent environmental issues in China due to the rapidincrease of waste generation in cities. It is reported that Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) generation in China is at 50million ton per year (National Bureau of Statistic, 2015), and food waste ranks as the highest fraction. However,methane fermentation facilities are at the early stage, while combustible waste incineration and other treatment facilityare built in some cities. In this research, we analysed the current situation of cities in China, and conducted a case studyon MSW and its biogas facilities. With the aims of proposing an efficient waste management and reduce waste going tothe landfill in the city, this study made evaluation cases that contains Mechanical-Biological Treatment (MBT),combination of bio-gasification and incinerator, and waste incinerator power generation from environmental and LifeCycle Cost (LCC) perspectives.
