This paper describes the architecture for solving U.S. on-orbitrnhardware/software problems on the International Space Station. Problems arernpartitioned, prioritized and coordinated and worked via a combination of monitoring,rntesting, commanding the vehicle, analysis, meetings, e-mails, formal written requests, andrnpresentations. Progress is measured against prioritized criteria. Throughout, systemrnarchitectural heuristics are employed. The key heuristics utilized in solving some of therncomplex problems are examined for their effectiveness.
