A Lithium ion capacitor (LIC) has higher energy density and long cycle life. For these reasons, LIC is promising asymmetric hybrid capacitor to make up for the weak points of EDLC. However, low temperature performances of LIC are worse than the ones of EDLC because of the electrode and electrolyte used in LIC. In this work, the propylene carbonate (PC) applies to electrolyte composition to solve these problems. When the ethylene carbonate (EC) is partially replaced by the PC, the electrolyte is make it possible for LIC to operate at low temperature. Furthermore, the LIC using designed electrolyte presents high rate performance as well. We will report the details of results at the meeting.
