A Geometrical Analysis of the Avian Influenza Virus at Different Areas

The Avian Influenza has made many countries suffer a lot since it broke out in Italy in 1878. It becomes very important to research the cause of the Avian Influenza and its features. Among the approaches studying the Avian Influenza virus (AIV), Z curve is a very useful method for visualizing and analyzing DNA sequences. It is a three-dimensional space curve constituting the unique representation of a given DNA sequence. This paper picks up some DNA sequences of the AIV H5N1 (HA) from the NCBI database , which root in the same host-chicken but occurred in different areas in 2008, respectively. Based on the Z Curve Theory, we map the relevant curves and analyze them, then calculate the base content, respectively. The initial conclusion is the Z curves of selected sequences have some geometrical features. It shows that the aberrance or evolution of H5N1 relates with areas.
