Software projects know they have arnproblem. Solutions abound. But which solutionsrnwork? What are the most fundamental underlyingrnprinciples we can observe in successful projects?rnThis paper presents ten powerful principles, many ofrnwhich are not widely taught or appreciated. They arernbased on ideas of quantification, measurement andrnfeedback. Our maturity level with respect to 'numbers'rnis known to be poor. Hopefully, as we move to higherrnmaturity levels, we will also begin to appreciaternnumeric expression of idea and the power ofrnmeasurement.
