This paper presents a design scheme for anti power-stealing based on GPRS and power line transmission. The system described in this paper uses a remote meter reading system based on power line transmission currently used by some electric power sector to set an alarm device for the electric meter box. The AT89C52 microcontroller in the alarm device is used to sample the power-stealing signal and to transmit it via power line and GPRS. The paper provides the system block diagram, hardware composition diagram and software flow chart. The new design avoids additional wiring at the collecting part and makes full use of the low voltage power line network and the existing GPRS base station.
