Effects of vibration on the readability of an electronic flight instrument display

Abstract: An in-flight icing incident involving a BAe advanced turboprop (ATP) aircraft led to severe vibration of the airframe and a loss of aerodynamic control. During the period of vibration the pilot reported a specific pattern of image break up on the electronic flight instrument system (EFIS). Three experiments to investigate this visual effect are reported. !7
