Foreign direct investment, employment creation and economic growth in CEE countries. An open issue

The economic crisis has raised serious concerns regarding negative growth rates and high unemployment levels. Policy makers are concerned nowadays in finding solution for recovery. The aim of our paper is to present the theoretical arguments for FDI as a possible solution in unemployment reduction and growth enhancement in CEE countries. We analyze the potential direct and indirect effects of the FDI, offering also a structural analysis of FDI shares in employment and in the total value-added. We conclude that, under certain conditions, the relationship FDI-employment-economic growth can be a viable solution for CEE countries. JEL codes: F23, F16, F43, E24
