On-Site Investigation of Contaminated AReas -Soil-Air Surveying with Drager-Tubes~(TM)

Until quaite recently underground storage tank systems (UST's) were peacefully out of sight and out of mind. Not until the mid-1970s did anyone consider the fact that all these buried USTs might be leaking fuels into the environment. By the mid-eighties, enough incidents had been reported, that the US congress through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) empowered regulations to ensure investigation, remediation and further proper operation of UST-systems. As the number of contaminated sites has risen, the complexity and variety of sites has also increased. Fuel contaminated sites require careful planing, attention to detail and a very careful eye on the budget (1).
