Investigations of Release Phenomenon of Volatile Organic Compounds and Particulates from Residual Storage Chip Piles

This paper outlines the method for estimating Particulate Matter and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) emissions from wood handling and storage operations at a pulp mill. Fugitive particulate matter emissions from wood handling and storage operations are due to material load/dropout operations, wind erosion from storage piles and vehicular traffic on paved roads. The particulate matter emissions are a function of a number of variables like wind speed, surface moisture content, material silt content, and number of days of precipitation.
