摘要

Using 1400-meter steel cable-stayed bridge models and three safety factors of the cable (γ_c) of 1.5, 1.7 and 2.0 against the proof stress, static and dynamic instability analyses are carried out. It is found, since the yielding of the cable leads immediately to the collapse of the bridge, that the safety factor affects in-plane ultimate strength. However, static and dynamic critical wind velocities are not affected by the safety factors. Finally the possibility of the reduction of the safety is presented.
