Recently membrane bioreactor (MBR) technologies have been used increasingly for the treatment and reuse of domestic or industrial wastewater due to its significant advantages, such as excellent effluent, small foot print, less excess sludge, etc. More stringent phosphorus regulations in global field (down to 50 μg/L in some cases) have been modified as the limiting nutrient in receiving water bodies to prevent eutrophication. However, up to now, most of work on MBR process has focused on removal of carbonaceous substances. Satisfying the demand for removal of nitrogen and phosphorus nutrients, study on modified MBR process adapted to enhanced nitrogen and phosphorus removal is necessary.
