The success of each educational institution generally isrnbased on many components: performance of academicrnand non-academic staff, quality of educationalrnprogrammes and their relevance to real world demands,rnand ability of that institution to achieve its targets, whichrnare based on Strategic and Operational planning andrnUniversity targets. These three components are criticalrnfrom the perspective of the institution’s missionrnstatement. We suppose that the ability to achieve targetsrnmay be considered to be one of the main indicators of thernsuccess of an institution. In this paper we describe arnquantifiable approach developed for the University ofrnTechnology, Jamaica (UTech) to identify a formalrnmeasurement tool to evaluate the yearly position of therninstitution on its way to achieving its strategic goals,rnbased on a strategic plan at least five years long. Wernanticipate that our approach may be useful for otherrneducational institutions.
