Last week, BT engineers in the picturesque town of Kesgrave near Ipswich, in Suffolk, were installing what may be one of the most important experiments so far in the company's quest to dominate the Super-highway.rnSunday Times, 27th Feb 1994rnThe "Information Superhighway", or even the "Infobahn", or other combinations of similar highly technologically-sounding journalistic and political jargon have been much in evidence in publicity material and the media from early in the 1990s. The actual amount of service delivered to date is a far cry from the apparent claims, but none the less, it is an emerging area where large global players are starting to flex their muscles as the potential business could be very large, and the impact on society irreversible.
