Chromium can be implanted in the surface of pure magnesium, AM50 and AZ31 to form the ion implantation layers with an effective thickness, their surface properties can improve. By the analysis on micro-hardness, appearance, constituent elements and phrase structure, we can test that the depth of implantation layer is about 0.2-0.3μm and the Cr consistency enhance with increase of implantation dose, but the consistency begin to decrease when implantation dose over top dose. Element Cr can be found in the implantation layer by EDS and MgCrO4 exist on surface by XRD, the appearance of MgCrO4 could come from the oxidation of Mg and combine with Cr; The properties of AM50A improve obviously after implantation but the effect of pure Mg and AZ31 is not obvious.
