Concentrations of Po and Pb were measured in soil, sediment and rock samples collected from the major rivers Kali, Sharavathi and Netravathi of Coastal Karnataka. The activities of these two radionuclides were determined by radiochemical separation of Po and activity counting using a ZnS(Ag) Alpha counter. The activity of Pb was higher than that of Po in the riverine environs. Po and Pb enrichment was found to increase with silt/clay and organic matter contents, whereas no significant correlation was found in sediments between Po and Pb activities and pH.
