Abstract: The performance of the joint Fourier transform correlation (JFTC) algorithm is improved by enhancing the frequency domain horizontal edges for the case where the reference and input scene are in the lower half and upper half, respectively, of the space domain. The enhancement of frequency domain horizontal edges eliminates any vertical edges which corresponds to cross correlation between objects in the input scene. Consequently the correlation peak intensity between similar objects is increased and the cross correlation peaks are reduced.!
