VALIDITY ISSUES IN PHENOMENOLOGICAL RESEARCH:BRIDGING THEORY AND PRACTICE IN A STUDY OFIT-DRIVEN RADICAL ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGE

In spite of their wide acceptance in other fields, phenomenological research methods have been greatlyrnneglected by the IT community. In this paper, different validity threats that stem from the ontological andrnepistemological basis of this methodology are discussed and illustrated with a research project on IT-drivenrnradical organizational change. In this way, it intends to provide practical guidance for those endeavoring tornapply phenomenology to investigate individuals'experiences related to the design, development, and use ofrninformation technologies.
