BUSINESS ANALYSIS PATTERNS: METHODOLOGICALAND SUPPORT ENVIRONMENT ASPECTS

In software engineering, particularly in requirements engineering, saving time and improving the quality ofproducts through reuse is possible. Experienced developers reuse their own ideas by recognising problems thatare similar to other problems that they have solved before. They then apply the best solution they had usedpreviously. Patterns crop up from reusing a recurring problem/solution. In the late 1980’s, patterns wereintroduced as a concept in computer science and they provided a way to save (preserve) and transmitknowledge and experience. This paper describes a prototype tool (RIBAP) that supports working with businessanalysis patterns when developing or maintaining a system. Aspects of a methodological and supportenvironment are also discussed.
