A NEW BOUNDARY TREATMENT FOR SMOOTHED PARTICLE HYDRODYNAMICS

A new boundary treatment for smoothed particle hydrodynamics is presented. In this approach, the pressure of a boundary particle is obtained by interpolation using the pressure of fluid particles in the near boundary area around it, and the boundary particle pressure is used in solving the momentum equations. This boundary treatment is applied in SPH model to simulate the vertical wall reflection of a solitary wave. The maximum run-up of the solitary wave is in good agreement with the analytical and experimental results. It shows that this approach of boundary treatment is an appropriate choice for SPH model.
